Camatta Lempens acts on $48 million acquisition by Gunns Limited

Adelaide law firm Camatta Lempens Pty Ltd Lawyers has acted for major Australian timber company Gunns Limited on Gunns’ acquisition of the Bell Bay sawmill and the sawmill’s softwood sawlog supply.

Gunns completed the acquisition of the sawmill from Forestry Enterprises Australia Limited (administrators appointed)(receivers and managers appointed) on 28 January 2011.

As part of the deal Gunns operated and managed the sawmill from December 2010, ensuring continuity of employment for all mill workers.

Gunns expects to achieve significant synergies and production benefits by processing all Gunns’ and FEA’s softwood sawlog supplies through the modern and efficient sawmill, which was constructed in 2008.

Franco Camatta led the Camatta Lempens team, with associate John Vozzo assisting. Senior associate Chris Andonas also advised on property aspects of the transaction.

Camatta Lempens also recently acted on completed divestments by Gunns worth $75 million.

The Camatta Lempens M&A team continues to act for Gunns in M&A matters, with the additional contribution of newly engaged Corporate and Commercial senior associate Arthur Stavrou.
