2010 Law Society of South Australia Justice Award

On the 20th of August 2010, at the Annual Law Society of South Australia Dinner, Stephen Kenny was awarded the prestigious 2010 Justice Award for his commitment to promoting access to justice in South Australia, particularly for social and economically disadvantaged people.

Stephen's contributions to social justice have included acting for David Hicks, largely on a pro bono basis, and acting in the Hindmarsh Island Bridge dispute.

The Justice Award is the among the most significant awards that the Law Society bestows. The past recipients since the establishment of the Award in 2004 include Brian Withers (now His Honour Judge Withers), Gordon Barrett QC (now His Honour Judge Barrett), Claire O'Connor, Paul Boylan, David Alcock and Jonathan Wells QC.

In accepting the award, Stephen thanked Camatta Lempens and particularly his partners at Camatta Lempens, whose support has enabled him to undertake the work he does.
