In 1979 Franco Camatta and Bob Lempens completed their legal practice requirements and resolved to build their own law firm from scratch.
The two young men saw, in Adelaide’s north western suburbs, an opportunity to bring legal services into an area which lay at the intersection of various types of social disadvantage but also contained some of South Australia’s key small and medium business enterprises. Bringing local access to high quality legal advice became the key to the firm’s early success.
In the early '80s, the firm broadened its expertise and delivery of services by expanding the personal injuries practice and bringing on board partner, Deej Eszenyi.
The firm has, from its earliest days, drawn unashamedly on the best available resources for its clients, with the expertise of the original and subsequent partners and directors, great counsel, productive relationships with other members of the legal profession and keen support staff.
During the '80s and '90s the firm operated outreach offices in Port Adelaide, Elizabeth and Adelaide, maintaining the ‘mothership’ at Kilkenny until relocating the whole firm into one premises at 345 King William Street, Adelaide in 2002.
In 1987 the firm was joined by the prominent human rights lawyer, Stephen Kenny.
In 2008 Deej moved on to the independent bar and continues to provide assistance across a range of legal issues.
The firm continues to expand its base of work, particularly in the Commercial area whilst still maintaining its human rights roots with building a significant practice in the Native Title area.
